Midreshet Amit

Updates towards 2018/19

Arrival and Visa Information
Ariel Tours is arranging our group flight. Our EL AL flight departs from JFK airport in New York on Monday, August 27th at 6:00 pm and arrives in Tel Aviv on Tuesday, August 28th at 11:50 am. You will receive an email soon after Pesach with details about the flight, the "Early Bird" discount, pricing and luggage as well as contact information for our travel agent. A representative from Midreshet AMIT will meet all of the students at the airport and assist with check-in.

Upon your arrival, your passport will be stamped with a three month tourist visa. Midreshet AMIT will obtain a one year student visa for you after you arrive.  If you will not yet be 18 by September 1st , you will not be able to get your visa extension through Midreshet Amit in Israel as we cannot renew your visa without parental permission. Please contact your local consulate and arrange for a student visa in advance. It may take some time to arrange the visa so please make sure to look into this immediately.

Students who have Israeli citizenship or an Israeli parent will have to apply for Israeli passports.  It is advisable to check into this issue before you come to Israel.  If you have Israeli citizenship, you can receive an exemption from the IDF by filing the necessary request form at the Israel Consulate nearest to your home.

Please note: Your passport must be valid for six months after the end of the school year (December 2019).

Midreshet AMIT begins on Tuesday, August 28th and we look forward to greeting all of our students for a special opening program and orientation. Please note that our dorm is not open before Tuesday morning at 9:00 AM. The school year ends on Sunday, June 11th, 2019.  All Australian, British and South African students who will be participating through the Bnei Akiva Torani and MTA programs will be emailed separately about group flights and calendar information. We will be sending out the full year calendar with all school shabbatonim and official vacation dates in a separate email.

Medical Forms
If you have not yet submitted an official updated medical form from your doctor, please send this to our office as soon as possible. A standard medical form that the doctors office provides is sufficient. The medical form must be current and include all relevant conditions and medications. No student will be allowed to attend Midreshet AMIT until the medical form is completed and returned to our office.

Detailed information regarding health insurance (which is included in tuition) and an optional dental coverage plan will be sent after Pesach.

MASA Grants
All students studying in Israel for the year are entitled to an automatic grant of $200 from MASA, regardless of financial need. We encourage all students to apply to MASA as soon as the website opens. We will notify you when it is available. Students with limited financial means may be eligible for a more substantial needs based grant.  Additional information is available on the MASA website (www.masaisrael.org). MASA will notify our office in Israel once your grant is approved. MASA scholarship monies will be deducted from the final tuition payment and your final payment will be billed accordingly.

For further information, please feel free to contact us at any time.  You may email me at ilanag@amit.org.il or our office midrasha@amit.org.il. We can also be reached by phone at 646-484-8982. Please keep the time difference in mind when calling.

I look forward to welcoming all of you to the Amit family!
